Tips For Safer Driving This Autumn
Over the many weeks to come as we rise to see that the roads are layered in a shower of leaves and the dreaded rain showers come around, gives us an opportunity to discuss road safety and provide you with some of our helpful tips to keeping safe this Autumn.
- Early morning sun glare.
The moment has come, when we leave the house during rush hour time and the sun is shining low, causing difficulty when driving. There’s a few things we can all do to be more prepared for avoiding this, one thing of which, is having a handy pair of sunglasses! Keeping our windscreens clean can also help us, as it prevents the hazy film from making it harder work to see out.
- Time to change the car battery?
Wonder whether your car battery requires an update? An overage battery of the age of 5 years and over could well and truly be on its way out and the cold weather certainly won’t help. Getting a new battery supplied to your vehicle will definitely allow the car to survive the colder and wetter season.
- Clean out the leaves!
From time to time you might discover a build up of leaves within the plenum chambers. Enabling the rain to eventually fill the chambers with water. Something to consider doing this for is that the water can seep into those important electrics and cause damage which can both be expensive and increasingly dangerous. We would like to remind you to clean out your plenum chambers over the course of Autumn/Winter.
- Slippery surface, use caution!
Whilst the roads are laid in leaves and dampness, we’d like to inform you that driving through water can potentially lead to costly repair bills to our beloved cars. Please avoid hard accelerations and heavy braking during these conditions. The leaves can also be slippery and dangerous, sometimes potentially block objects we don’t realise are hidden underneath. Therefore, it’s advisable to avoid driving either over or through those pilled up leaves.
