New 2019 DVLA Number Plate Launch

A: Jerri Murtagh

The new 2019 DVLA number plate launch took place this month, with the new September ‘69’ plate marking any vehicles registered between 1stSeptember 2019 and 1stMarch 2020.

This plate is the second release of the year, with the first, represented by the number ‘19’, launching on 1st March.

Whilst purchasing a new car can be appealing, you can make huge savings by purchasing a nearly new vehicle with low mileage. The average new car has a list price of around £28,500, but once it is one year old with around 10,000 miles on the clock, this depreciates by 27% to just £21,000, meaning you can pick up your dream car at a fraction of the price. Once a vehicle moves into its second year, the depreciation will often fall to half, which can be frustrating when you have purchased from new.

At cartime we specialise in used cars that have low mileage and are a average of two years old.

All of the vehicles we sell are subjected to a rigorous 62-point mechanical pre-sale preparation check to ensure the car is in ‘as-new’ condition when driven away, and we even restore the interior and exterior of the vehicle to its original form.

In addition, we also offer 0% finance and our renowned 6 year warranty, which offers six years’ servicing, MOT and repairs – a term way over the industry average. Our stock allows customers to make substantial savings on vehicles compared to purchasing them from new.

Understanding The DVLA Number Plate System

The format of a number plate allows people to identify where and when the vehicle was first registered, with the first two letters representing the region of registration and the first two numbers representing the year. The three characters at the end comprise of a random combination of letters, which are completely unique to that plate.

The new style number plate was introduced in 2001, with the labelling of new cars starting at ‘01’ in March and then ’52’ in the subsequent September. This was revised in 2010, when the five was replaced with six, meaning November 2011 got assigned ’61’.

Prior to the change, the age was determined by a letter, beginning in 1983 with ‘A’ and ending in August 2001 with ‘Y’.
