The Government has announced that MOT tests will become mandatory again in Britain from 1st August 2020.
When lockdown was announced, the Government offered a six month extension to anyone whose MOT was due between 30th March and 31st July - with this extension still applying to these motorists.
The new changes apply to anyone who has a renewal date on or after 1st August 2020.
Ministers said despite the extension policy, "all vehicles must continue to be properly maintained and kept in a roadworthy condition" or drivers could face prosecution.
Roads Minister Baroness Vere said: “As people return to our roads, it is vital that motorists are able to keep their vehicles safe.
"That’s why as restrictions are eased, from 1 August MOT testing will again become mandatory.
“Garages across the country are open and I urge drivers who are due for their MOT to book a test as soon they can.”
